About this tool
Sometimes you just need a plain document: notes to share, a letter, a log file or a draft that should not be edited. This tool turns text into a real PDF with selectable text, automatic line wrapping, page breaks and optional page numbers.
The PDF is built with the standard fonts that every PDF reader already has, so the files are small and open anywhere. These fonts cover English and Western European languages. For other writing systems, the print button uses your browser’s own fonts, which support every language your device can display.
Frequently asked questions
Is my text uploaded to create the PDF?
No. The file is built in your browser and downloaded from there. Nothing is sent to a server.
Which languages work in the direct PDF?
English and Western European languages, including accents and symbols such as é, ñ, ü and €. Other characters, for example Arabic, Persian, Chinese or emoji, are replaced with a question mark and you are told how many. For those languages use Print / save as PDF.
Can I add images or formatting?
No. This tool creates plain-text documents. If you need headings, bold or lists, write Markdown and use the Markdown to HTML tool, then print the preview.
How long can the text be?
Up to about 1,000 pages. Very long texts can take a few seconds on older phones.
