Reverse Text

Flip your text backwards by letters, by words or by lines.

How to use the reverse text tool

  1. Type or paste your text.
  2. Choose what to reverse: all letters, the order of words, each word on its own, or the order of lines.
  3. Copy the result or download it.

About this tool

Reversing text is useful for puzzles, palindromes, simple coding exercises and playful messages. The four modes cover the usual meanings of “reverse”: mirroring the whole text, flipping the order of words, reversing the letters in each word, or turning a list upside down.

The tool treats a character as the user sees it, so emoji, flags and accented letters stay in one piece instead of being cut apart.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the modes?

“Hello world” becomes “dlrow olleH” when reversing letters, “world Hello” when reversing word order, and “olleH dlrow” when reversing each word. Reversing line order only changes the order of lines.

Will emoji break?

No. Emoji and letters with accents are kept intact, because the tool works with whole visible characters.

Does it work for right-to-left languages?

The letters are reversed in the stored order. Because Arabic, Persian and Hebrew are displayed right to left, the result may look different from what you expect.
